Have you lost multiple teeth? Dr. Farid Noie may recommend dentures to replace them and restore your smile, oral health and oral function. With dentures, you can once again smile, speak and eat with confidence!
What Are Dentures?
Dentures are a type of removable oral appliance used to replace missing teeth. There are two main types of dentures: complete dentures and partial dentures.
A complete denture is used to replace an entire arch of teeth. It may be recommended for just one arch of teeth or for both arches depending on your needs.
A partial denture is recommended when you still have some natural teeth remaining. Partials use a thin framework or clasps which attach to your natural teeth to ensure a more stable and secure fit for your appliance.
In some cases, dentures may be anchored in place through the use of dental implants. Please speak with our dentist to determine if an implant-supported denture is right for you.
Creating Your Dentures
It may take several appointments to create your dentures and ensure they fit your mouth properly. Our dentist will first evaluate your mouth to determine which type of denture will be most effective for you.
Your denture creation process will begin with a preliminary impression of your mouth, from which a casting will be created. This casting is used to design custom impression trays for your final impression, which will be used to form the base of your denture. We will also register your bite to ensure the teeth in your denture are properly placed.
After your denture has been created, you will place them in your mouth to see how they look and feel. We will make changes to your dentures until they fit and function properly – this may take several additional appointments. Once everything has been adjusted properly, we will give you your completed dentures and provide you with instructions on caring for your appliance.
Please be aware that you may need to have your dentures adjusted after a few weeks when they have settled in your mouth, and that our dentist may recommend additional adjustments after your regular dental exams to ensure that your dentures will continue to fit and function properly for you.
